ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI 63-2013: Rainwater Catchment Systems, Standard 63

Given the lack of clear guidance and oversight over these critical systems, the Hawai’i Institute of Rainwater delivers rainwater catchment education, standards, and community support so Hawai‘i’s catchment households can confidently steward their water as self-reliant Rainwater Harvesters.

A Rainwater Catchment System Design and Installation Standard was developed by a joint effort of the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association (ARCSA) and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) with sponsorship support from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) and National Sanitation Standards (NSF) International.

The purpose of this Standard is to assist engineers, designers, plumbers, builders/developers, local government and end users in safely implementing a rainwater catchment system. This Standard is intended to apply to new rainwater catchment installations, as well as alterations, additions, maintenance, and repairs to existing installations.
